A water dye in Korean haircare refers to a dye formulation that uses water as the primary carrier rather than ammonia and a high-volume developer. Standard oxidative hair dyes lift and deposit color using alkaline pH and hydrogen peroxide. Water dyes work at a lower pH with a milder developer system, reducing the harsh chemical exposure associated with traditional box dye. The result is a gentler dyeing process that is less damaging to the hair shaft and causes less scalp irritation for users sensitive to ammonia.

The trade-off is that water dyes typically do not lift natural pigment - they cannot lighten dark hair. They deposit color over existing hair, providing rich color on gray strands and a tonal shift or refreshed depth on naturally darker bases. For gray coverage and maintaining or slightly adjusting hair color, water dyes are a practical gentler option.

SEEDBEE Water Dye is applied on dry hair. Put on gloves before opening the sachet. Leave on for the recommended processing time (usually 20-30 minutes for standard gray coverage).

Rinse thoroughly until water runs clear. Shampoo lightly with a color-safe or low-sulfate shampoo. Condition immediately to help seal the cuticle.
