Volume Magic is NORNZA's Korean perm and hair restructuring product line. In Korean hair salons, perm treatments are used for both curling and straightening, with specific chemicals formulated for different results. The "Straight" products in this collection are straightening agents, while the "Volume Magic" umbrella name covers the brand's wave and volume-building systems. These are professional or at-home salon treatments applied to the hair shaft to physically restructure it. They are not leave-in conditioning products - they are chemical treatments that require careful handling according to the included instructions.

The Volume Magic Straight line offers two formula codes: D and H. In Korean professional hair product nomenclature, these letter codes typically indicate the strength level or hair damage compatibility of the formula. D formulas are generally suited to more damaged or sensitized hair - the D likely stands for damaged. H formulas are suited to healthier or harder-to-process hair. Using the correct formula for your hair's condition is important for both result quality and safety. Applying an H (stronger) formula to damaged hair risks excessive breakage or over-processing. If your hair has been previously bleached, chemically treated, or shows significant breakage, the D formula is the appropriate choice.

Each formula (D and H) comes in two sizes: 200 and 400. The number indicates the gram weight of the perm medicine. A 200g size is suitable for short or medium-length hair - typically sufficient for shoulder-length or shorter hair in one application. The 400g size covers long hair or provides enough product for a salon doing multiple treatments. If you are doing a single at-home treatment on medium-length hair, the 200g is typically adequate. For long or thick hair, or if you are buying for multiple uses, the 400g reduces the need to buy multiple units.

Three bundle configurations are available using the H400 formula as the base: a 9-type kit (H400 + Essence + Bora Ampoule + 9 kinds of additional treatments), a 2-piece Purple Hair Ampoule set (H400 + Hair Ampoule Purple 2 pieces), and a standard bundle (H400 + Essence + Bora Hair Ampoule). Several bundle sets include a Bora Ampoule alongside the perm medicine. Bora Ampoule is a post-treatment hair ampoule. In Korean hair treatment, Bora (violet/purple) ampoules are typically formulated to neutralize yellow tones after chemical processing and to deliver protein or conditioning to the freshly processed hair shaft. The ampoule is applied in the final stage of the perm or straightening process, often left on for a few minutes before the final rinse. Including the Bora Ampoule in the same purchase ensures you have all components needed for a complete treatment-to-aftercare session.

Chemical perm and straightening treatments require careful preparation. Before use: do a strand test on a small section of hair to check processing time and result. Read the instructions included with the product fully before beginning. Wear gloves throughout the process. Ensure adequate ventilation in the application area - these products have strong odors from the processing chemicals. Do not leave the product on longer than recommended. Have all neutralizer and aftercare products ready before starting. For first-time users, practicing on a small section before a full-head application is strongly recommended. If hair shows extreme breakage or unusual texture after the strand test, do not proceed with the full application.

Start by selecting the formula: D for previously treated, bleached, or fragile hair; H for natural or resilient hair. Then choose the size: 200g for shoulder-length or shorter hair, 400g for long or thick hair. If you want a complete kit with aftercare included, the H400 bundles are the most convenient option - the 9-type kit gives the most comprehensive aftercare, while the 2-piece purple ampoule set is a simpler package. If you already have aftercare ampoules at home, buying the standalone D or H formula is the more economical choice.

After a Volume Magic treatment, the hair shaft is in its most vulnerable state for 24-72 hours while the structural bonds re-form. During this window: avoid washing or wetting the hair for at least 24 hours after treatment, avoid heat styling immediately after, and use a gentle moisturizing or protein hair mask once washing resumes. The ampoules included in the bundle sets are applied during the treatment process itself, not after - they support the chemical processing rather than replacing post-treatment care. In the days following treatment, a moisturizing deep conditioning treatment or hair mask helps restore softness and reduce potential brittleness.
