Macadamia nut oil is a light emollient with a fatty acid profile close to human sebum - predominantly oleic acid and palmitoleic acid. This makes it absorb readily and feel non-greasy on skin. In a rinse-off body wash, most of the oil washes away, but a small film remains on the skin surface after rinsing, contributing to the post-shower feeling that the skin isn't stripped.

Honey extract is a humectant - it draws moisture toward the skin surface. In rinse-off products the effect is mild compared to leave-on formulas, but it contributes to the product's overall moisturising reputation and to the texture of the lather (honey-based surfactants produce a denser, creamier foam).

Most standard body washes use sodium laureth sulfate (SLES) as the primary surfactant, which is highly effective at removing oil and dirt but can over-strip the skin barrier with frequent use.
