Ceramides are lipid molecules that form the structural "cement" between cuticle cells in the hair shaft-they fill the gaps between overlapping cuticle scales and hold the hair's internal structure together. When hair is damaged by heat (flat irons, blow dryers used at high heat repeatedly) or chemicals (bleach, relaxers, perms), ceramide content is depleted, which causes the cuticle to open, the cortex to become exposed, and the hair to lose moisture rapidly between washes.

Hair with depleted ceramide typically presents as: rough to the touch, dull, prone to mid-shaft breakage, slow to hold moisture (goes dry again quickly after conditioning), and prone to static and frizz. Replenishing ceramide from the outside using cosmetic ceramides in haircare partially restores the cuticle's barrier function, reduces moisture loss, and improves the mechanical strength of the hair shaft over time.

Available in 600 ml and 1000 ml. This is a ceramide-enriched cleansing shampoo designed to deliver ceramide actives during the wash step rather than only through conditioning. Standard shampoos strip ceramide along with sebum; this formula uses a gentler surfactant system and adds ceramide back to compensate for wash-related depletion.

The Advanced Keramide Extreme Damage Shampoo (1000 ml) carries a higher ceramide concentration than the standard version-appropriate for hair that is severely damaged or for people who wash very frequently and want more ceramide replenishment per wash. The standard 600 ml version is appropriate for moderately damaged hair or for those new to the line.

Available in 200 ml and 600 ml. These are the core conditioning step in the Keramide system-applied after shampooing, left for 3-5 minutes, and rinsed with cool water to close the cuticle after ceramide deposition.

The 600 ml is the more economical format for regular users; the 200 ml is better for new users trying the formula or for travel. There is also a dedicated Keramide Heat Damage Clinic Treatment (200 ml) specifically formulated for heat-damage (as opposed to chemical damage). The heat-damage variant emphasizes thermal repair actives alongside ceramide, making it the more targeted option if your damage source is primarily flat irons and blow dryers rather than bleaching or chemical treatments.

KERASYS offers three 70 ml serum variants in the Keramide line:

• Keramide Extreme Damage Clinic Serum 70 ml: the current-formula ceramide serum, applied as a leave-in to damp or dry hair. Provides ongoing ceramide delivery between wash sessions.
• Keramide Extreme Damage Clinic Serum (Old) 70 ml: the previous formula version, still available while stock lasts. Functionally similar to the current version; the ingredient ratios have been slightly updated in the new formula.
• Advanced Keramide Rich Hair Serum 70 ml: the higher-concentration Advanced sub-line serum, with increased ceramide loading for more severely damaged hair. Apply in the same way as the standard serum but in slightly smaller amounts due to the higher concentration.

Leave-in serums deliver ceramide to the hair surface throughout the day, not just at the wash step. For seriously damaged hair, using both the in-shower treatment and the leave-in serum provides dual-window ceramide delivery-at wash and between washes.

The KERASYS Keramide line has two tiers:

• Standard Keramide: Extreme Damage Shampoo 600 ml, Clinic Treatment 200/600 ml, Clinic Serum 70 ml. Appropriate for moderately damaged hair-color-treated, regular heat-styled, or mildly bleached hair.
• Advanced Keramide: Extreme Damage Shampoo 1000 ml, Rich Hair Serum 70 ml. Higher active concentration, designed for hair with serious damage-multiple bleaching sessions, combined heat-and-chemical damage, or hair that has not responded sufficiently to the standard tier.

If you have tried standard ceramide haircare elsewhere and found it insufficient, the Advanced sub-line is the appropriate starting point. If you have never used ceramide-specific haircare, start with the standard tier and move up if needed.

For best results with KERASYS Keramide:

1. Cleanse: Keramide Extreme Damage Shampoo (standard or Advanced depending on damage level). Apply to wet scalp, massage for 60 seconds, extend to lengths, rinse.
2. Treat: Keramide Extreme Damage Clinic Treatment (or Heat Damage variant if your primary issue is heat). Apply from mid-shaft to ends, leave for 3-5 minutes, rinse with cool water.
3. Leave-in: Keramide Extreme Damage Serum or Advanced Rich Serum applied to towel-dried mid-lengths and ends. Do not rinse.
4. Weekly intensive: Replace the standard treatment with the Advanced 10X Repair Ampoule Hair Pack once per week for even deeper repair (if using alongside the Keramide line).

Consistency is the key variable. Ceramide replenishment is cumulative-each wash deposits a small amount, and over 4-8 weeks the cuticle barrier improves measurably. Skipping sessions slows the timeline.

Keramide is specifically built for structural damage-damage that has compromised the hair shaft's lipid barrier and cuticle integrity. Signs that Keramide is appropriate for you:

• Hair breaks easily-mid-shaft snaps rather than stretching when pulled gently
• Hair feels rough and looks dull even after conditioning
• Hair dries out quickly between washes despite using moisturizing products
• History of bleaching, chemical straightening, multiple perms, or daily heat at high temperature

If your primary issues are scalp (oiliness, dandruff) rather than strand damage, the KERASYS Scalp Clinic line is more appropriate. If your hair is dry but not structurally damaged, the Moisture Clinic or Argan Oil line may be sufficient without the specialized ceramide loading.
