Kerasys Extra

Kerasys uses both the "Extra Damage" and "Extreme Damage" (Keramide) labels in its product range, which can cause confusion. The distinction is primarily one of formula concentration and size positioning:

• Extra Damage Care: a broadly accessible damage-care formula available in large and bulk sizes. It repairs and conditions damaged hair effectively for daily use and is designed for volume purchasing at a lower per-unit cost.
• Keramide Extreme Damage: a targeted ceramide-formula product line calibrated for the most severely damaged hair, with higher ceramide concentration and available primarily in individual-use sizes (200 ml to 1 liter).

For moderately damaged hair or daily maintenance use, Extra Damage Care is a practical and cost-effective choice. For severely compromised hair - bleached, heavily processed, or structurally broken down - the Keramide Extreme Damage line provides a higher concentration of repair actives per wash.

The Extra Damage Care line is available in sizes that go well beyond standard retail hair care formats:

• Shampoo: 180 ml, 750 ml, 2 kg, 4000 ml
• Rinse (conditioner): 180 ml, 750 ml, 2000 ml refill, 4000 ml

These sizes reflect two use cases. The first is households with multiple members sharing a product - a 4000 ml shampoo at the cost of roughly 5 standard 750 ml bottles lasts the same period but at a lower per-use cost. The second is users who wash their hair frequently (daily or more) and want to minimize reorder frequency. For either case, the Extra Damage line offers the best value-per-gram ratio among Kerasys's repair formulas.

The line uses the Korean hair care term "rinse" to describe what Western markets typically call conditioner. Both the "Extra Damage Rinse" and the "Extra Damage Care Rinse" are post-shampoo conditioning products applied after washing, distributed through the mid-lengths and ends, and rinsed off after 1 to 3 minutes. The "rinse" terminology does not imply a lighter or thinner formula - it is a standard conditioner for damaged hair in a different regional naming convention.

Shampoo and rinse products in this line are sold separately. For the most complete repair routine, use both - the shampoo delivers repair actives during cleansing, and the rinse follows with additional conditioning and moisture during the post-wash step.

The Extra Damage Rinse Refill (2000 ml) is designed to be poured into a reusable dispenser bottle rather than used from the pouch directly. The refill format reduces packaging compared to buying multiple individual bottles and costs less per ml than the equivalent volume in standard-size units. To use the refill effectively, keep a pump-dispenser or squeeze bottle available - the 2000 ml pouch format is not designed for direct daily use without a transfer container.

Some Extra Damage products carry an "(Old)" label - the Extra Damage Shampoo (Old) 750 ml and Extra Damage Rinse (Old) 750 ml. These are older-formula versions of the product, now updated to the current formulation. The "Old" label indicates these are the previous batch version; the formula has been refreshed in the current lineup. Both provide damage care, but if you have used the current formula and are evaluating whether the old version is the same product, the newer formula is the updated default.

A standard daily routine with the Extra Damage Care line is straightforward:

1. Wet hair thoroughly. Apply Extra Damage Care Shampoo to the scalp, massage in, distribute through the lengths, and rinse.
2. Apply Extra Damage Care Rinse from mid-lengths to ends (not the scalp). Leave on for 1 to 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

For a weekly intensive session, extend the rinse contact time to 5 to 10 minutes as a mask. This gives the conditioning ingredients longer to penetrate the hair shaft and is particularly effective for hair that is actively damaged rather than just at a maintenance stage.

The Extra Damage Care line works well as a long-term maintenance system after completing an intensive repair protocol with the Keramide Extreme Damage line - it maintains the improvement achieved with the higher-concentration ceramide formula at a lower per-wash cost.

The Extra Damage Care line's bulk sizes are most economical for users who wash their hair daily. A rough comparison:

• 750 ml at a standard per-ml rate lasts approximately 3 months for a single daily user.
• 4000 ml at the same daily frequency lasts approximately 13 to 16 months.

The per-ml cost of the 4000 ml size is typically lower than 5 or 6 individual 750 ml purchases. However, the upfront cost of a 2 kg or 4000 ml product is higher, and if your hair concerns or preferences change before you finish the product, a large purchase is harder to recover. Start with the 750 ml to confirm the formula is right for your hair, then move to bulk sizes once you know you will use the product consistently.

The Extra Damage Care line suits:

• Moderately to significantly damaged hair that needs consistent daily repair care without the highest-concentration ceramide formula.
• Households where multiple people share the same shampoo and the bulk sizes make practical sense.
• Users who have completed a Keramide Extreme Damage repair protocol and want to maintain the results at a lower cost per wash.

It is less appropriate for hair with only very mild dryness (where a general-purpose moisturizing shampoo is sufficient) or for hair with extremely severe damage (where the Keramide Extreme Damage formula's higher ceramide concentration is the better tool).
