IOPE's Bio Conditioning technology centres on a fermented biome complex that is designed to condition the skin's microbiome environment alongside conventional hydration and barrier support. The fermentation process modifies the raw botanical and extract inputs into smaller molecular-weight actives that penetrate the stratum corneum more effectively than unprocessed equivalents.

The Conditioning Essence applies as a toner-like step immediately after cleansing, before serums and moisturisers. It functions as an essence in the Korean skincare sense: a first treatment layer that prepares the skin to absorb subsequent products more effectively. Unlike most essences that are purely humectant, the Bio formula adds microbiome-support actives to the hydration base.

The Bio Conditioning Essence is stocked in three sizes: 84ml (travel or trial size), 145ml (men's version), and 168ml (standard retail). The 84ml is approximately half the standard bottle, running four to six weeks at once-daily use by palm-press. It is the practical size for testing the formula before committing to the full 168ml or for travel where the full bottle is inconvenient.

The new formula reduces certain sensitiser ingredients that occasionally caused reactions in a subset of users of the original version.

The two formulas are functionally comparable in terms of conditioning and hydration performance. Users who had no sensitivity issues with the original can choose either. Users who experienced minor irritation with the original version should opt for the NEW formula, which is IOPE's current production standard.

The Man Bio Conditioning Essence 145ml is a reformulation of the Bio Conditioning technology for male skin. Men's skin tends to have higher sebum production, a slightly lower surface pH, and a thicker stratum corneum than female skin. IOPE adjusts the hydration ratio and the fermented complex concentration in the men's version to account for these differences, resulting in a slightly lighter, less viscous texture than the standard 168ml.

The men's essence applies in the same step and with the same technique as the standard version - by palm-press after cleansing. The Valentine's Day Man Bio Set of 2 bundles the men's essence with a companion product, making it an efficient entry-point into the men's line rather than a single-product purchase.

IOPE extends the Bio formula into two cleanser formats: the Bio Conditioning Essence Foam 180ml and the Bio Conditioning Oil In Gel Cleanser 150ml. The Foam is a standard face wash that carries a mild version of the biome-conditioning complex within a gentle surfactant base. It cleanses without stripping the microbiome layer that the essence step subsequently reinforces, creating a cleanser-and-essence synergy within the same formula family.

The Oil-in-Gel Cleanser is a dual-phase format that emulsifies sunscreen and makeup without requiring a separate oil cleanse first. The gel phase keeps the application feeling water-like, while the oil phase lifts sebum and waterproof products. Both cleansers are formulated at a pH compatible with the Bio Conditioning Essence for same-routine layering.

The Bio Conditioning Essence Hydro Enhancing Mask is a sheet mask soaked in a concentrated Bio formula essence. It delivers a higher-than-daily dose of the fermented conditioning complex in a single session. Use it one to two times per week as an intensive conditioning treatment in place of the regular essence step, or stack it on top of the essence on days when the skin is particularly dehydrated.

Apply after cleansing, leave 15 to 20 minutes, then remove and press the remaining essence into the skin before applying serum and moisturiser. The mask format is suited to post-flight skin, skin stressed by dry winter air, or as a pre-event prep treatment the night before.

Pour three to four drops of the essence into your palm. Press both palms together to warm it slightly, then press onto the face (not rub) from the centre outward. Patting the essence in with pressing motions drives more product into the skin than wiping does, particularly for the fermented actives that benefit from gentle friction to aid penetration.

Let the essence absorb for 30 to 60 seconds before applying the next step. In Korean routine terms, it sits after the toner and before any serum or ampoule. If your routine does not include a toner step, the Bio Conditioning Essence can serve as both the first treatment and the pH-balancing step after cleansing.

The 48ml is a convenient portable size for travel, gym bags, or keeping at a work desk. Note that the Costco bundle uses the formula current at the time of Costco's purchasing cycle, which may lag behind the newest IOPE retail formula by one production cycle. If being on the latest NEW formula version is a priority, the individual 168ml NEW version is the more current purchase.
