This gives you a short blending window if you want a soft, diffused liner look, and a locked-in result once it sets.

Shades run from standard black and dark brown to more nuanced options-greige, deep plum, forest tones-that suit the understated Korean eye-makeup aesthetic. Most are retractable or self-sharpening, which removes the need for a separate sharpener and keeps the tip consistent throughout the product's life.

INNISFREE's brow pencils are designed for the natural, filled-in brow that became the standard in Korean beauty over the past decade: not a solid block of color, but individually placed strokes that mimic real brow hairs. The tip is typically ultra-fine-micro or triangle cut-which makes the product more forgiving for beginners than a standard chisel-tip brow pencil.

Shade range covers the most common Korean brow colors: light and medium brown, greige (grey-beige), and soft black for darker hair. The formula has enough grip to stay on brow hair and skin without smudging over the course of the day, but doesn't build up waxy or cakey even with multiple passes.

For lip liners: a light dusting of translucent powder over the liner before applying lip color creates a base that extends wear and keeps the edge from migrating. This works particularly well with softer, more moisturizing lip products that tend to slide.

INNISFREE's pencil shades are calibrated for a range of complexions but lean toward the cool-neutral tones favored in Korean makeup-which generally means they translate well to fair through medium warm-toned skin, and reasonably well on deeper complexions in the darker end of the range.

Lips: Match to your natural lip tone for a no-makeup effect, go slightly darker for definition without obvious liner, match to your lipstick for maximum longevity.

Korean eye and brow makeup prioritizes looking natural and somewhat effortless-techniques favor building gradually rather than applying boldly and editing back. A few approaches that work well with INNISFREE pencils:

Smudged lower liner: Apply a dark eye pencil to the outer third of the lower lash line, then immediately smudge inward and upward with a small smudger brush or clean fingertip. The result is a soft, diffused shadow rather than a hard line-more editorial in effect, less heavy overall.

Brow tail flick: Rather than drawing the brow tail as a hard point, extend slightly past the natural tail with a short upward flick from the pencil tip. It adds a few millimeters of length without looking drawn-on.

Lip wash: Fill the entire lip with liner one shade deeper than your natural tone, then press lips together. Top with clear gloss. This gives a your-lips-but-better effect that requires no precision and lasts well through the day.

Retractable and twist-up pencils don't require sharpening-advance incrementally (1-2 mm at a time) to avoid breaking off more product than you can apply in one pass. If you're using a traditional wood pencil, a sharp, clean sharpener gives the best tip; a dull blade tears the pencil core and wastes product.

Store pencils horizontally or cap-side down in heat above 25°C (common in summer or in bags left in cars). Heat softens the core, which causes the tip to mushroom or break when applied. A few minutes in the refrigerator will firm a soft pencil core before use if needed.

The spoolie end on brow pencils should be clean for best results-wipe it on a tissue between uses to avoid transferring old product back onto freshly applied brow strokes.

A pulled-together everyday look using only pencils from this range:

1. Apply brow pencil using short, hair-direction strokes, starting from the arch toward the tail. Go lighter at the front third. Set with a brow gel or a dry spoolie pass.
2. Line the upper lash line with an eye pencil as close to the roots as possible-a thin, tight line rather than a wide stripe. Smudge slightly with a fingertip for softness.
3. On the lower lash line, apply to the outer half only and smudge inward. Avoid lining the full lower lash line in dark color-it closes the eye.
4. Optional: a soft waterline application of a lighter or nude pencil on the lower waterline opens the eye noticeably.
5. Finish with mascara and a lip pencil used as the full lip color or under tint.
