Korean double-cleansing divides the cleansing routine into two steps: a first cleanse using an oil-based product to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and sebum (which are all oil-soluble and do not break down effectively with water-based foam alone), followed by a second cleanse using a water-based foam or gel to remove the remaining residue and cleanse the skin surface. This two-step approach is more thorough than one-step cleansing and does not require excessive rubbing that irritates the skin.

The Innisfree cleansing collection maps directly onto this framework. The Apple Seed Cleansing Oil, Apple Seed Cleansing Cream, and Olive Vitamin E Real Cleansing Oil are first-cleanse products. The foams (Bija Trouble, Volcanic BHA, Green Tea Amino) are second-cleanse products. The cleansing waters (Blueberry and Green Tea Amino Acid) can serve as either a gentle first cleanse for light wear or a rinse-free alternative to a second cleanse on low-makeup days.

The Innisfree Apple Seed Cleansing Oil at 150 ml is the core first-cleanse product in the lineup. Applied to dry skin before any water contact, it emulsifies makeup and sunscreen on contact. Massage into the face for 60 seconds, then add a small amount of water to activate the emulsification: the oil turns milky as it lifts the product off the skin surface. Rinse thoroughly. The Apple Seed extract adds mild antioxidant properties, but the primary function is the oil chemistry that dissolves oil-based products faster and more completely than a water-based foam.

The Olive Vitamin E Real Cleansing Oil is a richer first-cleanse alternative to the Apple Seed Oil. The olive oil base provides emollient fatty acids that make the cleanse feel more luxurious and leaves skin feeling softer after rinsing, which is particularly beneficial for dry or tight skin. Vitamin E (tocopherol) adds antioxidant stability to the formula and skin-conditioning benefits. At 150 ml it is the same size as the Apple Seed Oil.

Choose the Olive Vitamin E Oil over the Apple Seed Oil if your skin tends toward dryness and you notice tightness after oil cleansing with lighter formulas. If your skin is oily, the Apple Seed Oil is the leaner option.

The Bija Trouble Cleansing Foam uses Bija (Torreya nucifera seed) extract as its primary active. Bija is a traditional Korean ingredient with established antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it a natural fit for a cleanser targeting acne-prone or blemish-prone skin. The foam format means it produces a lather that distributes the active ingredients across the skin surface during the cleanse step. At 150 ml it is the standard Innisfree foam size.

Use this as your second-cleanse step after the Apple Seed or Olive Oil first cleanse. If you do not wear makeup, you can use it as a standalone daily cleanser on days when a single cleanse is sufficient. The Bija active is mild enough for regular daily use without the over-drying that some blemish-fighting cleansers cause from harsh acids or alcohol.

The Volcanic BHA Pore Cleansing Foam combines Jeju volcanic ash (a mineral-rich clay powder that physically adsorbs excess sebum) with BHA (beta hydroxy acid, typically salicylic acid) for chemical pore-cleansing. BHA is oil-soluble and can penetrate into the pore lining to dissolve the sebum and dead skin buildup that causes blackheads and congestion. This dual physical-plus-chemical pore-clearing approach is more thorough than clay or BHA alone.

This foam is the most active cleanser in the Innisfree lineup and is best suited for oily or pore-congested skin that finds standard foams insufficient for keeping pores clear. For dry or sensitive skin, the BHA and volcanic ash combination is too stripping for daily use; limit it to two to three times per week or use the Green Tea Amino Hydrating Foam on alternate days. Do not use this foam on the same evenings you apply a BHA or AHA serum without checking that the total acid load is not excessive for your skin tolerance.

The Green Tea Amino Hydrating Cleansing Foam is the gentlest foam in the Innisfree cleansing range. It uses amino acid surfactants (which are less stripping than standard sulfate surfactants) combined with Green Tea extract for antioxidant support during the cleanse step. The result is a foam that cleans without significantly disrupting the skin's natural moisture balance, which makes it suitable for daily use on sensitive, dry, or normal skin. At 150 ml it is the same size as the other Innisfree foams.

This is the default foam to recommend for anyone new to the Innisfree cleansing range who does not have a specific blemish or pore concern requiring the Bija or Volcanic BHA formulas. Cleansing waters are micellar or toner-type formulas that lift light makeup and surface residue from the skin using micelles (surfactant molecules that attract both water and oil) or mild surfactants, without requiring water rinsing. The Blueberry Rebalancing Cleansing Water at 200 ml uses blueberry extract for antioxidant support and a rebalancing effect, suited for combination skin. The Green Tea Amino Acid Cleansing Water at 320 ml uses the same green tea and amino acid combination as the foam range in a no-rinse water format.

Cleansing waters work best for: removing light makeup or tinted SPF on skin that has not been wearing heavy full-coverage products; as a gentle morning rinse for skin that does not need a foam cleanser after a thorough evening cleanse; or as a convenient travel cleansing option that does not require a full sink setup. They do not replace an oil cleanser as a first-cleanse step when heavy-wear SPF and foundation are involved.

The Forest For Men Shaving Foam Cleansing at 150 g is the only men's product in the Innisfree cleansing collection. It performs a dual function: it provides the lather and skin protection needed for a close shave while also cleansing the skin during the shaving step. This means it can replace both a separate pre-shave cleanser and a shaving cream in a minimal-product routine. The Cleansing designation indicates the formula includes enough surface-active agents to clean the skin, not just soften the beard.
