Etude Deer Tint

A lip tint is a colour product that stains the lip rather than sitting on top like a lipstick. The pigment soaks into the outer lip layer, leaving a flush of colour that does not transfer, fade quickly, or feel heavy. ETUDE's Deer Darling tints deliver this effect in several textures to suit different skin hydration levels and finish preferences.

The Deer Darling line includes several distinct formulas:

• Water Tint (10 ml, 9 g) - the original; a lightweight watery stain that dries down to a long-wearing matte gradient. High pigment, low transfer.
• Water Gel Tint (5 g) - adds a gel cushion to the water formula for a slightly more comfortable, plumper look with a semi-matte finish.
• Ice Cream Water Gel Tint (4.5 ml) - a cooling gel texture with a glossy top layer; best for dry lips that still want colour.
• Marker Tint (3.5 g) - a felt-tip precision applicator for clean edges and ombre lip liner techniques.
• Milky Berry Deer Darling Oil Tint (4.2 g) - an oil-based tint that gives the most moisture and a glossy finish; sheer pigment layer over a plumping base.
• Deer Darling Tint Mini (5 ml) - a compact version of the water tint for travel or trying new shades.

Lip condition guides format choice more than personal preference:

• Normal to oily lips: the Water Tint dries down smoothly and holds colour all day without feeling heavy.
• Dry lips: the Ice Cream Water Gel or the Oil Tint layer moisture alongside pigment, preventing the cracked-edge effect that water tints can emphasise on parched skin.
• Precision work / liner overlay: the Marker Tint gives the cleanest ombre line control and is easiest to use for beginners attempting a gradient.
• Layering: the Oil Tint works well on top of any of the water or gel formulas to add gloss without disturbing the stain underneath.

The Korean gradient (ombre) lip technique is the signature application for Deer Darling tints:

1. Exfoliate and moisturise lips the night before for a smooth canvas.
2. Apply the tint only to the inner third of the lip, dabbing from the centre outward.
3. While still wet, blend the outer edges with your ring finger using a patting motion. Do not drag.
4. Let the tint dry for 30 to 60 seconds so the stain sets before eating or drinking.
5. Optionally, apply the Oil Tint over the entire lip for added gloss once the base has dried.

Remove all formats with an oil cleanser or micellar water; the Water Tint stains deeply enough that water alone will not remove it fully.
