A standard sheet mask is a pre-cut fabric soaked in essence-you unfold it, press it to your face, wait, and peel it off. A character mask does all of that, but the fabric itself is shaped and printed to represent an animal or character. The eye holes, nose opening, and mouth gap are positioned in the same places as a regular mask; the print is cosmetic (it doesn't affect the formula or the material's adherence to skin).

Epielle's version uses the same thin, essence-saturated cotton-blend sheet as their standard line. The character print is applied to the outer (non-skin-contact) surface, so the side touching your face is just plain white fabric. The print doesn't transfer to skin.

The 18+ epielle character masks currently in stock include:

• Dolphin - slate gray with dolphin silhouette markings
• Cat - whisker lines and pointed ear cutouts
• Shark - fin-shaped top, open-mouth design
• Panda - black-and-white with characteristic eye patches (available in two variants)

Stock on individual designs fluctuates. The panda has historically been the most consistently available variant.

Epielle character masks use a standard hydrating sheet mask essence: primarily water, glycerin (humectant), and a blend of skin-conditioning agents. The focus is moisture delivery rather than treatment actives like retinol or niacinamide-these are not targeted treatment masks.

What that means for routine placement: character masks work best as a hydration boost on a regular basis, not as a once-a-week treatment mask substitute. They're particularly effective after a longer day (travel, air conditioning, heated interiors) when skin is visibly dehydrated and needs a quick moisture top-up.

The essence volume per mask is standard for the category-enough to fully saturate the fabric and leave the skin feeling plump, not so much that it drips during use.

The basic application steps:

1. Cleanse your face and pat dry. A slightly damp face (not wet) helps the essence absorb rather than sit on the surface.
2. Open the packet and unfold the mask carefully-the character print faces outward, the plain white side goes against your skin.
3. Align the eye holes, nose opening, and mouth gap with your features. The mask is designed to cover from hairline to chin.
4. Press the fabric flat against your skin, especially around the nose and jawline where air pockets tend to form.
5. Leave on for 15-20 minutes. Longer is not better-after about 20 minutes the mask starts to dry and pulls moisture back out of the skin.
6. Remove and discard the mask. Gently pat any remaining essence into the skin. No need to rinse.
7. Follow with moisturizer to seal in the hydration if you're doing a fuller routine.

Sheet masks are already a common gift-with-purchase or skincare stocking-stuffer, but character masks add a presentational element that plain masks don't have. The visual is immediately recognizable as a specific item rather than a generic beauty product, which makes them easier to package and give context to when gifting to someone who doesn't actively follow K-beauty.

Practical considerations for gifting:

• Each mask is individually sealed, so you can mix designs into a set without repackaging.
• A handful of different animals grouped by color (pandas + penguins, or tigers + dolphins) makes for a visually coherent assortment.
• They're suitable for teenagers and adults-the character design removes the formality that sometimes makes skincare gifts feel clinical.

Sheet masks are safe to use daily if you want to, though most people find 2-3 times per week sufficient. There's no over-use risk with a standard hydrating formula like epielle's-the worst outcome of using one too often is simply that the benefit becomes marginal because your skin is already well-hydrated.

The most common schedule that works well: use a character mask on evenings when you have a few minutes to sit without touching your face. The 15-20 minute wear time pairs naturally with winding down, watching something, or reading.

If your routine includes active treatments (retinol, acid exfoliants), don't use a sheet mask on the same night as a potentially sensitizing step. Sheet masks slightly increase skin permeability, which can amplify irritation from actives.

Unopened epielle character masks are stable at room temperature and don't require refrigeration. Storing them in the fridge is optional but creates a cooling sensation on application, which some people enjoy-particularly in summer or after sun exposure.

Keep them away from direct sunlight and out of humid bathrooms where the packaging seal can degrade over time. Each mask should be used within 12 months of opening the outer carton (multi-pack boxes), though individual sealed packets last the full shelf life.

Once opened, the mask must be used immediately. There's no viable way to re-seal a used mask and store the remaining essence.

Since the formula is identical across designs, the choice is purely aesthetic. Some considerations:

• For photos: The panda and unicorn designs tend to photograph most distinctly due to the high contrast or pastel color saturation. The shark is popular because the fin shape is recognizable even at a distance.
• For kids or teens: Pig, rabbit, and cat designs tend to land well. The tiger and shark work for anyone who prefers something a bit bolder.
