A gauze pad is a cotton-based application tool with an open-mesh weave rather than a tight-pressed surface. The weave allows liquid to flow through evenly, so each swipe distributes product across the skin instead of absorbing it into the pad itself. This means less product waste and more product contact with your skin.

Start with cleansed skin. Saturate one gauze pad with your toner or first essence so it is damp but not dripping. Press it flat against the skin rather than dragging it sideways. Hold for two to three seconds at a time, then move to the next area. This press-and-release motion keeps friction low, which is especially important for inflamed or post-breakout skin.

For areas with texture or dry patches (sides of the nose, chin line), you can fold the pad to a narrower edge and gently pat. Avoid rubbing in circular motions, which defeats the purpose of a hypoallergenic pad and can transfer bacteria from one zone to another.

Sensitive and reactive skin types see the clearest benefit because the reduced friction means fewer micro-tears and less mechanical irritation during toning.
