Centella asiatica is a tropical herb (Gotu kola) used in traditional wound healing and dermatology for its proven anti-inflammatory, skin-repair, and barrier-strengthening properties. Its active compounds - madecassoside, asiaticoside, asiatic acid, and madecassic acid (collectively called centelloids) - work by inhibiting inflammatory cytokines, stimulating collagen synthesis in fibroblasts, and reinforcing the intercellular lipid structure of the skin barrier.

In K-beauty, cica became the dominant ingredient for sensitive, eczema-adjacent, and post-procedure skin because it addresses inflammation without the side effects of topical steroids and without the irritation potential of active ingredients like retinol or strong acids. COSRX's Pure Fit Cica line uses a centella extract concentration high enough to produce clinical soothing results, not just trace-amount label decoration.

The Pure Fit Cica line offers four cleansing products covering two routine positions. First cleanse (oil cleansing): the Pure Fit Cica Clear Cleansing Oil 200ml removes sunscreen, makeup, and heavy skincare residue before a second cleanse. It emulsifies with water and rinses without a greasy film. The centella extract in the oil adds a calming function uncommon in cleansing oils, making it suitable for reactive skin that flares after standard oil cleansers.

Second cleanse (foam/gel): two options. The Pure Fit Cica Cleanser (available in 50ml and 150ml) is a gel-type low-foam cleanser ideal for reactive or barrier-compromised skin. The Pure Fit Cica Creamy Foam Cleanser (75ml and 150ml) produces a denser, creamier foam for dry or more sensitive skin that prefers the softer feel of a creamy lather over a clear gel. The 50ml and 75ml sizes are both trial or travel-appropriate; the 150ml sizes are the standard full-format for home use.

The Pure Fit Cica Toner applies after cleansing as the first active hydration step. COSRX formulates the Cica Toner with a high centella asiatica water content that provides both immediate hydration and continuous calming action at the point in the routine where the freshly cleansed skin is most reactive and most receptive to actives.

Apply by pressing with palms (not wiping with cotton) to preserve the centella actives and reduce friction on sensitive skin. The toner prepares skin for the Cica Serum and Cream by establishing a calmed baseline before follow-up products are layered on. For very reactive skin, the toner alone (no serum on problematic nights) provides enough active input while allowing the barrier to rest.

The Pure Fit Cica Serum delivers the highest concentration of centella centelloids in the line's regular-use products. Applied after toner, it targets persistent redness, post-acne marks, eczema-prone patches, and barrier repair at the serum step where actives have maximum penetration potential. The serum texture is lightweight - designed to absorb quickly without leaving a heavy residue that sensitised skin might react to.

The Cica Serum is the product to reach for when skin is visibly inflamed, after a procedure, during a breakout recovery phase, or when you are introducing new actives and want a calming anchor in the routine. It pairs with any moisturiser or cream step and is safe to use morning and evening without accumulating irritation risk.

Both creams anchor the Pure Fit Cica routine at the final moisturiser step, but at different richness levels. The Pure Fit Cica Cream is a lightweight, gel-cream texture suited to normal, combination, and oily-sensitive skin that needs barrier protection and calming without a heavy occlusive layer. The Pure Fit Cica Cream Intense 50ml is the richer version for dry, severely dehydrated, or post-procedure skin that needs a more substantial barrier seal alongside the centella actives.

For daily morning use under SPF on combination skin, the standard Cica Cream is the appropriate choice. For evening use on dry skin or during recovery from laser, microneedling, or a significant breakout phase, the Cream Intense provides the higher occlusive and centella content. Using the Cream in the morning and the Cream Intense at night is a common combination for variable-condition skin.

The Pure Fit Cica Calming True Sheet Mask is a centella-saturated sheet mask used two to three times per week for an intensive calming and barrier-repair session. The 'True' mask designation in K-beauty typically indicates a thicker, bio-cellulose or cotton sheet that holds more essence and adheres more closely to the face than standard non-woven masks. Apply after toner on mask nights, leave 15 to 20 minutes, remove the sheet, press in the remaining essence, and either follow with the Cica Cream or skip the cream as the mask serum typically provides sufficient moisture.

The sheet mask is the highest-impact single-session product in the Pure Fit Cica line for visibly reactive skin. Used the night before an event or the evening after a procedure, the mask provides a fast-visible calming result that the daily serum and cream build up over weeks. Keep unused masks refrigerated for a cooling, additional anti-inflammatory effect when applied cold.

Minimal effective routine (3 steps): Pure Fit Cica Cleanser 150ml → Pure Fit Cica Toner → Pure Fit Cica Cream. This three-product combination covers cleanse, hydrate, and protect with all centella-centric products and no redundant steps. Suitable for first-time users or for days when skin is at its most reactive and less is more.

Full routine (5-6 steps): Cica Clear Cleansing Oil (evening first cleanse) → Cica Cleanser or Creamy Foam Cleanser → Cica Toner → Cica Serum → Cica Cream or Cica Cream Intense (depending on skin dryness that day). Add the Calming True Sheet Mask two to three times per week in place of the serum and cream steps on mask nights. The SPF step goes after the morning Cica Cream and is not within this line, but any low-irritant SPF is compatible with the Pure Fit Cica routine.
